Small Game Hunts
Snowshoe hare:
Our snowshoe hare season last six months, which provides hunting opportunities that range from bare ground to deep snow. Listening to the beagles pursue a hare in your direction, while knowing you need to find the exact location to get the best shot as the hare flies by is the fun and challenging part of the hunt. There is no better way to spend a winter day in the Maine woods.
These hunts can be done with your hounds or ours.
Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock:
Maine was once covered by extensive farmlands that have now grown over, providing excellent grouse and woodcock habitat. It is not uncommon to find apple trees in the middle of the woods, which often attract grouse. The old fields that are now alder runs hold woodcock as well. October is a great time to hunt in Maine and you’ll enjoy the added benefit of visiting during our peak fall foliage.
Hunting grouse or woodcock can be done with our without dogs, and you’re welcome to bring your own. We do not provide bird dogs to hunt with.
Coyote:
While the coyote is abundant, they are a challenging predator to hunt. The coyote season is open year round. They can be hunted over bait or by calling them in. We do not offer hunts with hounds.
